Book Cafe Reconstruction (3D Max & V-Ray)
Light, Curves, and Spatial Comfort
This remodeling project transformed a low-rise building in downtown Ulsan into a bright and inviting book cafe. Due to the surrounding high-rise buildings, the interior space initially suffered from limited natural light and a potentially enclosed atmosphere. The design strategy focused on visually expanding the space through light, materiality, and form.
Bright wall finishes were applied to enhance overall luminosity, while indirect lighting was carefully integrated to create a soft and evenly distributed light environment. To further increase the perception of vertical openness, highly reflective materials were used on the ceiling, amplifying both light and height.
A custom-designed curved sofa was introduced as a key spatial element. This feature not only provides comfortable seating but also adds a sculptural quality to the interior, softening the overall composition and reinforcing a calm, welcoming ambiance. The project successfully balances functional seating, visual comfort, and expressive form within a compact urban context.
